The Big Catch
Out in the evening trolling buckshot lake
fishing for a pickerel all yummy juicy
Going slow down the lake
So I don't make a wake
And scare away all the fishy’s
Pickerel’s the goal
But all I’ve been doing is harassing these bass
Although that’s fun I really hope the pickerel will bite
It’s getting really late
They’ve got to bite
I’m sure they will it’s bite
it’s got to be fate
I feel a few nibbles
Then a big chomp
I sought
I fought
I caught
My poem relates to one of Gord Downie's poem styles because this is a true story. For the record this walleye meets the ontario guidelines for sector 17 stating that the slot size limit for keeping and eating is 35-55cm. This particular walleye was 50cm
Great Poem! I really liked how you incorporated your passions into a poem. Seems like Gord Downie really inspires you during your fishing trips. Also nice picture!!
ReplyDeleteWow! this poem does a fantastic job of telling the story of your fight with a 50cm walleye. The word choice with all the imagery that is incorporated makes the reader feel like they're on the lake with you.
